Information about reports of lead results at GME

by Jessee Perry

Over the summer, RPS Board explored emergency options to address the poor conditions at George Mason Elementary. In case you missed it, here is the back story. Ultimately, RPS Board voted to keep George Mason open with repairs and air quality testing; however, they also want to prioritize finding funding to build a new school for GME.

Yesterday just before 4PM, an individual posted on Facebook that there was a positive lead test at a George Mason Elementary water fountain. We are told RPS granted permission for the testing.

Just after 6PM, RPS sent out a media advisory with a statement about the positive lead results.
